Fighting With One Hand Tied Behind Your Back
I picked up this bumpersticker (referencing the River Oaks Shopping Center "battle") at Domy. It made me ponder why the supporters of preservation, livability, planning, and rail transit have such a hard time fighting those opposed to any zoning, planning, etc. Those opposed join together, gather their (substantial) money, form PACs, lobby at all levels from local to national, and defend their interests. Those in favor put up websites, print bumper-stickers, and write blog posts. I know it's not quite that one-sided, but it sure seems that way sometimes.
