A Collection of Rice-BCM Links, Pro and Con

These links were compiled by Rebekah Drezek, a bioengineering professor. (At least I think she is responsible--how many bioengineering professors named Rebekah are there?) The links include lots of opinions both pro and con, as well as useful background information. As someone who doesn't have a huge stake in this issue (although I do have an opinion, of course), it is fascinating to see how this is playing out at Rice.

Interestingly enough, two Rebekah/Rebeccas. But you've got the right one of us...

How come all the alums officially hear is the spin from the Rice Administration? Don't they need to hear both sides of this highly charged issue?

Unfortunately, it is up to we alums to educate ourselves. I have made a small effort to provide links on Facebook so that my alum friends there can get more information--but it's up to them to follow that information. We have busy lives, and Rice pops into our field of vision when we get copies of the alumni magazine and when we write checks. But as Moshe Vardi said, this is the most important decision Rice has made since it changed from Rice Institute to Rice University. We alums owe it to the school, to ourselves, and to future students to make certain that Rice makes the right decision, and that our input is heard.
