Swamplot
I mentioned it briefly in the previous entry, but I really want to call attention to Swamplot, a Houston real estate blog that approaches its subject with a great deal of humor. Even the name is perfect. One of the coolest features of Swamplot is the Daily Demolition Report, where they list all the structures that have demolition permits for that day. It's shocking when you read it to learn just how many buildings are torn down every day in Houston. And Swamplot doesn't just dump a list on you--they often go and photograph one of the soon-to-be-extinct-but-unlikely-to-be-regretted structures.
The variety of blog posts is another great feature. In the past few days, they've talked about new development, the implosion of the Crown Plaza hotel (with a cool film of it), the perfect photos in Houston Home & Garden, Astrodome redevelopment, and the sad latter days of a former Bellaire party pad.
I recommend it highly.
